The social platform for folk and traditional dance
Kolo is a calm, ad-free place for folk dance from every corner of the world, with Galatea, an AI assistant who helps you write, plan and connect, and never posts without you.

One circle, many traditions
Named after the kolo, the South Slavic round dance where everyone joins hands. Follow ensembles, dancers and teachers, share rehearsals, costumes and festivals, and find people who love the same dances as you.
By country and region
Every post has a region: Balkan, Central and Eastern European, Western European and Celtic, Latin American, Asian and Middle Eastern, and African dance.
Calm by design
No ads, no tracking pixels, no outrage feed. Members pay for the platform, not their attention.
For every ensemble
Folk ensembles and village groups, university clubs, teachers, musicians, costume makers, festival organisers, and everyone who loves to watch.

VeilThe statue that came to life
In Ovid's Metamorphoses, Pygmalion's statue grows warm and breathes. On Kolo, Galatea brings folk-dance conversations to life.
- Answers folk-dance questions — where a dance comes from, its steps, rhythms like 7/8 and 11/16, costume and songs.
- Improves your posts — spelling, grammar and dance terms, in your own voice and language.
- Draws pictures for your posts — describe a scene and she paints it in watercolour, ink, oil, photo or poster style, marked ✦.
- Plans your posts — paste a list of drafts and she suggests a date and time for each.
- Starts conversations — once or twice a week she drafts a question for a dancer who shares your topic.
- Never acts alone — you approve every message, and Galatea-assisted posts are marked ✦.
Generous where others charge
The things many platforms keep for paying users are free on Kolo.

Kolo on your phone
Install Kolo like an app — its own icon, full screen, no store needed. It always stays up to date.
- Open Kolo in Chrome on your Android phone: open the app.
- Chrome shows "Install app" at the bottom — tap it. Or open the menu ⋮ and choose Install app (or Add to Home screen).
- Tap Install. The Kolo icon appears on your home screen — open Kolo from there, full screen.
Prefer a download? The Android app file (APK) will be available here soon — you'll allow "Install unknown apps" once, and Android installs it.
- Open Kolo in Safari on your iPhone or iPad: open the app.
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow ↑) at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
- Open Kolo from your home screen — it runs full screen, like an app.
On iPhone this works in Safari. In other browsers, use Safari for this one step.
Two ways — choose the one you like.
Option 1 · Add to Dock Recommended
Nothing to install, updates itself, notifications work. Needs macOS Sonoma (14) or newer.
- Open Kolo in Safari: open the app, and sign in.
- In the menu bar choose File → Add to Dock… and click Add.
- The Kolo icon appears in your Dock and Launchpad — Kolo opens in its own window.
Chrome or Edge work too: menu ⋮ → Cast, save and share → Install page as app.
Option 2 · The Kolo Mac app
⚠️ Made by Kolo's founder and not yet verified by Apple. It's safe — a small window for Kolo, nothing else — but because Apple hasn't checked it yet, your Mac asks you to confirm the first time you open it.
⬇ Download Kolo for Mac 1 MB · Apple Silicon and Intel · macOS 12 or newer- Open the downloaded zip (in Downloads) — it unpacks Kolo. Drag it into your Applications folder.
- Double-click Kolo. Your Mac says it can't check it — click Done (or Cancel).
- Open → System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway next to “Kolo”, then confirm with your password.
- That's it — from now on Kolo opens normally. Sign in with Google and you stay signed in.
On older macOS (12–14) you can also right-click Kolo → Open → Open. Updates: the app always shows the latest Kolo — you only download it once.
- Open Kolo in Chrome or Edge: open the app.
- Click the install icon at the right end of the address bar (a small screen with an arrow), or menu ⋮ → Cast, save and share → Install page as app.
- Kolo opens in its own window and appears in your Dock or Start menu.
Questions
Is Kolo really free?
Yes. Posting, following, pictures, documents, themes and the daily Report are free. Paid plans add more Galatea and keep the platform independent.
Does Galatea post for me?
Never on her own. She drafts, improves and plans — you read, edit and approve every message. Galatea-assisted messages carry ✦ so everyone knows.
I don't dance — can I join?
Of course. Kolo is for everyone who loves folk dance, including people who simply love to watch, or are rediscovering their family’s dances.
Is there video?
Not yet. Kolo focuses on posts, pictures and documents for now — calm and fast on any phone.
How do I sign in?
With your Google account. There are no passwords to remember, and every account belongs to a real email.
What happens to my data?
It's yours. No ads, no selling of data, and you can download everything or delete your account at any time from Settings. Read the privacy page.
Can my studio or company use it?
Yes. The Studio plan is made for ensembles, schools and festivals: more Galatea, a STUDIO badge, and season planning.
